Theatrical Costume Design for Stage, TV & Film

Based between London and the South East of Kent, I am an experienced costume designer and maker, garment specialist and technical sewing instructor, with more than 20 years’ industry experience across professional theatre, touring ballet, large-scale stage and television productions, and higher education.

My career spans technical costume making, pattern drafting and garment construction for major UK arts organisations and productions, including Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in Southwark, Vienna Festival Ballet in Fulham, the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain for the London Olympic Games, and Evolution Productions. I have extensive experience translating complex designs into carefully constructed garments, often working to demanding deadlines and exacting technical requirements.

As Principal Costume Maker at Evolution Productions, I managed the construction, fitting and grading of period garments for theatre productions touring nationally. At Vienna Festival Ballet, I specialised in men’s dancewear, from pattern cutting and fabric sourcing through to tailored fittings and the construction of bespoke ballet jackets.

I also work as Lead Artist for Strange Cargo in Folkestone, designing and fabricating large-scale sculptural costumes for street theatre and live performance. Alongside my production work, I spent five years as a Technical Tutor in Costume on the Theatre and Screen BA (Hons) at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) in Rochester, sharing my technical knowledge and industry expertise with the next generation of designers and makers.

My specialist areas include pattern drafting, historical and technical garment construction, bespoke bridalwear and custom tailoring. I bring together high-level production craftsmanship with a practical approach. Alongside freelance design and fabrication, I run hands-on, small-group sewing classes and pattern-cutting workshops, helping both beginners and experienced makers develop their skills and confidence in technical garment making.
